The graduate student panel allowed undergraduates to get a sense of what grad school is like for both Masters and PhD students. Graduate students also provided valuable information about their experiences applying and preparing for grad school.

One of the guest speakers that DAnC hosted -- Cherie Briggs -- discussed her path from undergrad to professor and how her knowledge of data analysis and coding assisted her throughout her journey and how it continues to assist her in her studies of fungus-frog interactions and Lyme disease.

Gordon Blasco discussed how he went directly from being an undergraduate at UCSB to working for NCEAS as a data scientist, and then a data analyst at IBM. He outlined keys to success when it comes to a career in data science and steps that undergraduates can take to give themselves an edge -- designing a website, learning Shiny apps, and becoming proficient in R.

Workshops!
DAnC showcases a variety of workshops including, but not limited to, an introduction to R, ggplot2, dplyr, GitHub, for loops and functions. The DAnC officers answer any questions and help troubleshoot along the way ensuring that R newbies, R experts and everyone in-between gets something out of the workshops.
